President Announces Expanded Commitment to Providing Student Services that are Relevant, Responsive and Reflective of Jesus Christ
The Student Services functions at Washington Bible College and Capital Bible Seminary are being restructured to make them more relevant, responsive and reflective of Jesus Christ. Some recent organizational transitions created the opportunity for the President to take a fresh look at the needs of the student body and to seize strategic opportunities the school has to build on more than seventy-five years of service in the capital region of our nation. The following steps are being taken to enhance the student experience.Residential Life. The administration has recruited a couple living on the campus to help anchor an effort to create a stronger community of support for students living on campus. Residential students will have an increased number of opportunities to build life-long friendships.
Commuter Life. Greater levels of accessibility to the activities and resources at the school for non-traditional working learners are being facilitated during the upcoming year.
Recreational Life. Intramurals and other activities/events that promote optimum health and physical fitness of the students are being planned and organized.
Service Learning. A strong program to allow students to move their learning and growth beyond the classroom into the streets of local, national and global communities will take the student experience at WBC/CBS/Equip to new levels.
Leadership Development. Students at Washington Bible College/Capital Bible Seminary have a unique opportunity to provide leadership in a wide variety of ministry and professional situations. A number of activities and programs are being planned to help students mirror the love for people and servant leadership modeled by Jesus Christ.
Spiritual Formation. Corporate worship, organized prayer times and expanded opportunities to participate in spiritual formation groups will provide students with opportunities to enrich their personal walk with God and other believers.
During the Fall 2010 semester students will experience an expanded array of services and support designed to help them discover and fulfill God’s purpose for their lives.
Pray with us that God will use the students as agents of transformation in local churches, nonprofit organizations and communities locally, nationally and globally.
Dr. Larry A. Mercer
