Washington Bible College Cougars Place Third in National Basketball Tournament
February 24-26, 2011, Washington Bible College hosted the Small Bible College National Invitational Tournament (SBCNIT). WBC, seeded third, advanced to the semi-finals of the tournament, where it fell short in double-overtime to #2 Davis College, 100-91. On Saturday, the Cougars defeated Dayspring Bible College (IL) 82-78. The Cougars' Durwood Till and Akin Jaiye were named to the All Tournament Team. Washington Bible won the SBCNIT in 2010, defeating Trinity Baptist College.
Friday's game was the 5th time the two teams met this season. WBC and Davis last met on February 19 in the Shenandoah and Chesapeake Conference title game, with Davis overcoming a 10-point half time deficit to defeat Washington 85-77.
Davis College won the SBCNIT on Saturday with a 100-93 double overtime victory over Trinity Baptist College of Jacksonville, FL. The Small Bible College Athletic Association draws its membership from Bible colleges with 300 or fewer students. The 2012 Tournament will be held in Jacksonville, Florida at Trinity Baptist College, February 23-25.
