experiential learning

Student Success deals with initiatives that target the needs of students in order to ensure a successful time as a student.  It is intentionally facilitated through athletics, sports camps, and missions.

athletics

The purpose of the Athletic Department is the glorification of God through our actions, attitudes, and words both on and off the playing field. Washington Bible College is a National Christian College Athletic Association (Division II East Region) and the Shenandoah and Chesapeake Conference.

Whatever your future ministry, you will not work in a vacuum. You will probably be a part of a team. Unlike theology, teamwork is difficult to learn in the classroom. On the court or on the field you will have an opportunity to interact with other believers and to work with teammates who may not always have the same approach that you do.

Sports permeate our society, and athletes have a great deal of influence on young people. It can be used as a tool for ministry - a non-threatening approach to those not yet ready to come to a church service. But to be effective witnesses, believers must compete with both skill and honor. 2 Timothy 2:5 says, "And also, if anyone competes in athletics, he is not crowned unless he competes according to the rules." Fair and skillful play can influence others to hear what you have to say.

Gym hours are from 7:00 a.m. - 10:00 p.m. on weekdays and 10:00 a.m.-10:00 p.m. on Saturdays.

missions

We encourage experiential learning through short term missions trips that are organized throughout the semester.  From work teams sent to New Orleans, France, Ecuador and inner cities, our students will have the opportunity to see God at work in contexts far larger than their own.

This year's Spring Break trip will go to New Orleans.

Contact The Missionary-in-Residence, at 301-552-1400, ext. 1219 if you are interested in participating in this trip.
