journal information
Journal Holdings
The Oyer Memorial Library journal/periodical holdings are made up of four media types: the hardcopy, the microfiche, the microfilm, and the web accessed periodicals and e-journals. The library contains 439 hardcopy periodical titles with 189 current subscriptions. The microform items generally fill in the missing years of our periodical runs. Some of our holdings go back to the mid 1800s. Access to well over 10,000 titles, many in full text, is available electronically through the Research Databases/E-Journals page.
Location of the Journals
Journals and microforms may be found in three rooms. The main periodical collection is found in the Poston-Knoblock periodical room. The microforms are housed in the A/V Room. Lastly, infrequently used periodicals are stored outside of the library. These periodicals are noted as “relocated” in our bound periodical list.
Journal Procedures
Any patron may select a journal/periodical. All selected items will be re-shelved by the library staff. The journals housed in the Oyer Memorial Library do not circulate. A copy machine is available in the main room of our library. The cost is ten cents per page. Microfilm and microfiche readers are also available in the A/V lab. Requests for “relocated” items may be made in person using the retrieval form found at the library’s website or at the circulation desk. Up to 2 hours may be required to retrieve the “relocated” item.
