interlibrary loans

 What is it?

Interlibrary loan is a service through which library materials not owned by the Oyer Memorial Library may be requested and obtained from other libraries for use by students, faculty members, and staff.

Who may use it?

All current Washington Bible College, Capital Bible Seminary, Equip students, faculty, and staff are eligible to use the service. Graduates of WBC, CBS, and the Equip program and community members who have purchased a library card may also use this service. Checkout privileges are granted to these patrons.

How long does it take?

The Oyer Memorial Library uses the OCLC system and depending on the scarcity of the item, the usual turn-around time is from two to four weeks. Books may be obtained quickly while dissertations may take longer.

What kinds of materials does the interlibrary loan service provide?

Books - To order a book, go to the circulation desk and ask for an ILL form or download the form from the library's website and fill it out. The cost for each ILL order is $5.00. The lending library may add on its charge as well. The loan period may vary due to the time it will take to receive the item and to send it back. Count on at least three weeks.

Periodicals - Generally, periodicals are not sent through ILL. The pertinent article is photocopied. As with books, the patron will order his/her periodical article through the ILL form provided by the Oyer Memorial Library or the website. There is a $5.00 charge per request. As with books there may be a charge set by the lending library. As a rule, a set number of pages are copied for free. If this number of pages is exceeded, there is a charge for copies.

How do I know when the item has arrived?

An Oyer Memorial Library staff person will notify the patron when the item is received. Notification may be via email, telephone or through campus mail. Items will be held for up to one week and then returned to the lending library.
