Pastoral Ministry Courses

PMN 311 Homiletics I (3) Spring
Prerequisites: SPH 101 Public Speaking, two PBI courses, and 21 hours of Bible and theology
A study of the nature and development of the sermon. Practice is given in preparation and writing of expository sermons. This course is designed for men preparing for the pastorate.

PMN 312 Homiletics II (3) Fall
Prerequisite: PMN 311 Homiletics I
A continuation of PMN 311 with an emphasis on preaching from the New Testament.

PMN 321 Pastoral Theology (3) Fall
Prerequisites: 21 hours of Bible/theology and 2 PBI courses
A study of the pastor’s role in the local church. The student develops a biblical philosophy of ministry and discovers the biblical qualifications and responsibilities of the pastor. Considered will be the nature and the call of pastoral ministry, as well as its glories and perils. Given the College’s position on pastoral ministry, this course is designed for men preparing for the pastorate.

PMN 411 Homiletics III (3) Spring
Prerequisite: PMN 312 Homiletics II
This course is a continuation of Homiletics II with an emphasis on preaching from the Old Testament and further refinement of sermon development and delivery.

PMN 491 Pastoral Internship (3) Fall/Spring
An in-service training program designed to give the student practical experience within the local church after he has completed a minimum of 60 semester hours of course work.
