A survey of Western Civilization from its beginnings through the Middle Ages and Renaissance.

HIS 202 World History II (3) Spring
A survey of Western Civilization from the early modern period through the twentieth century.

HIS 211 American History I (3) Fall
An exploration of early American history from the colonies through the Civil War with an emphasis on the idea, principles, beliefs, and cultural values, which shaped organized life in the colonies and in the early republic.

HIS 212 American History II (3) Spring
An exploration of modern American history from Reconstruction to the present with an emphasis on the ideas, principles, beliefs, and cultural values, which have shaped organized life over the last century.

HIS 222 American Civil War Survey and Tour (3) Summer
Prerequisite: HIS 211 or HIS 212
This course will include an overview of the various battles, armies, leaders, and tactics of the war. Political viewpoints and the home front will be studied as well. The class will tour area eastern theater battlefields such as First and Second Manassas, Antietam, Fredericksburg, Chancellorsville, Wilderness, Spotsylvania, Richmond, and Petersburg.   A fee for travel and gas expenses should be expected.

HIS 235 History of the Black Church in America (3)  modular Fall
A study of the development and history of the black church in America from slavery to the present with emphasis on the development of the urban church and the influences evident from American history.
