EB 501 Old Testament History I (Genesis-Ruth) (3)
This course is an exposition of Genesis through Ruth with particular attention to the literary design, theology and message, and historical contribution each book makes to the understanding of God's present and future dealings with the nation of Israel.

EB 504 Old Testament History II and Poetical Books (3)
The books of 1 Samuel through Esther are studied for their historical contribution to the understanding of God's dealings with the nation of Israel and for the spiritual implications of this revelation to the believer today. In addition, each of the books from Job through Song of Solomon is studied in terms of its distinct literary form and spiritual content.

EB 505 Old Testament Prophets (3)
The Old Testament prophetical books are studied to gain an understanding of Israel's moral and spiritual condition, God's judgment on the nation, and the nation's future deliverance.

EB 511 Gospels (3)
This course is an exposition of the four Gospels with particular attention given to Matthew and John. Primary emphasis is placed on the overall message and theology of each book.

EB 512 Acts and Pauline Epistles (3)
This course is an exposition of Acts and the Pauline epistles (Romans through Philemon). Attention will also be given to the historical setting and overall message of each book.

EB 516 Hebrews, General Epistles and Revelation (3)
This course is an exposition of Hebrews through Revelation. Attention also will be given to the historical setting and overall message of each book. The content of Revelation will be taught considering the entirety of biblical eschatology.

EB 522 Techniques of Bible Study (3)
An introduction to the principles and practices of the inductive and analytical methods of Bible study involving the steps of observation, interpretation, and application. Principles in these steps are applied to various biblical passages. The student is also introduced to basic elements of English grammar and biblical word studies and guided in the process of doing a structural analysis of the book of Philippians.

EB 523 Principles of Biblical Interpretation (Hermeneutics) (3)
A study of the principles of the literal-grammatical system of biblical interpretation, with the application of those principles to representative passages and to a synthesis of entire books. Issues related to intended meaning, literary design, biblical theology, and the use of the Old Testament in the New Testament receive particular attention.

EB 602 Exposition of the Psalms (2)
A study of the composition, exposition, theology, and use of the Psalter, as illustrated by selected and representative Psalms. Consideration is given to their authorship, historical background, and Messianic reference.

EB 603 Exposition of Isaiah (2)
An exposition of this major prophet. Insights are given into Israel's history and her Messiah.

EB 604 Exposition of Jeremiah (2)
The book of Jeremiah is studied inductively with special emphasis on historical background. The Josianic reform and its impact are discussed as well as the religious and cultural setting of the seventh century B.C.

EB 605 Exposition of Daniel (2)
An in-depth examination of the contents and interpretation of the book of Daniel. Some attention is given to historical, archaeological, and linguistic aspects which illuminate the book.

EB 606 Exposition of Zechariah (2)
The book of Zechariah is studied inductively with special emphasis on historical background. The eschatological prophecies are examined in light of their fufillment in the New Testament and later times.

EB 607 Historical Geography of Biblical Israel (2)
A study of the primary physical features of the land is followed by a selective survey of the historical geography of the various periods in the history of biblical Israel, from the pre-Abrahamic periods forward to the beginning of the Church. Hermeneutical influences are examined and varied, multimedia tools are utilized. An optional trip to the Holy Land for additional graduate credit also is offered.

EB 608 Critical Issues and Bible Backgrounds (3)
A study of the background and major critical issues surrounding the Old Testament, the intertestamental period, and the New Testament.

EB 610 Exposition of Genesis 1-11 (1)
A study of the foundational chapters of the Old Testament from the standpoint of history, theology, and science. Special attention is given to the issues of Creation, Fall, Flood, and dispersion form Babel.
