Certificate in Christian Counseling and Discipleship
The Certificate in Christian Counseling (CCCD) is a non-degree course of study offered to those with college or professional degrees.
Mission Statement
The CCCD is designed to prepare students for more effective lay counseling and discipleship ministries in local church and para-church settings through a 30 semester hour graduate-level program of study. Students will learn the content and develop the competence and character necessary for lay soul care and spiritual direction in the local church and in para-church ministries.
Core Objectives
Biblical Truth
To provide students with knowledge of biblical and historical theology with an emphasis on humanity, sin, salvation, and the local church.
To impart a biblical basis for understanding the issues people face in life.
Academic Excellence
To encourage the investigation of theological insights and psychological research for their contributions to an understanding of the counseling and discipleship process.
To prepare students to evaluate various secular and Christian approaches to counseling and discipleship. Spiritual Development
To cultivate in students a deepening relationship with Jesus Christ applied in godly character and service. Relational Development
To promote the relational growth of students so that experiential knowledge of Christ is applied in relationships both with the Christian and secular community. Preparation for Service
To equip students with competency in the performance of lay counseling and discipleship ministries in the local church and para-church.
Admission Requirements
Admission requirements for the CCCD are given on pages 24-25 of the CBS catalog. In addition to those requirements, applicants must schedule a personal interview with a member of the Master of Arts in Christian Counseling and Discipleship (MACCD) department.
Graduation Requirements
- Completion of the prescribed curriculum with at least a 2.00 grade point average.
- Demonstration of spiritual fitness for lay Christian ministry by the student’s attitude toward biblical studies, active participation in the local church, and personal conduct and deportment with the student body and the Christian public which commends the gospel.
- Essential agreement with the doctrinal position of the Seminary (see pp. 8-9 of the CBS catalog).
- Completion of the CCCD mentoring requirements. 5. Recommendation by the MACCD/CCCD faculty.
